Shepherd's Creek El Zorro is the beautiful son of StudMasterTM El Toro (deceased). He has grown to closely resemble his sire in stature, and sports a dense, crimpy, bright fleece that feels like butter and has maintained it’s fineness into his 6th year. Zorro's dam is Brookhollow's Carmela, the very fine fleeced daughter of true black Chinchero. In the show ring, Zorro was proclaimed by Mike Safley, Wade Gease and Amanda Vandenbosch to have both the finest fiber and the longest staple length in his class. He was placed 1st as a Juvenile in a class of 12 at the North American Alpaca Show, and was a close contender for Reserve Champion. As a yearling Zorro placed second at the Empire Alpaca Extravaganza behind a full accoyo Championship winner. There were 14 alpacas in the class.
Zorro's cria are showing definite improvement over their dams, and a number of them are carrying Zorro’s fleece and conformational characteristics, and very exciting COLORS! He has thrown fawns, white, dark rose greys, light rose grey, and 3 blacks! He is throwing the dam’s color 70% - 80% of the time. Zorro’s daughter by our Spring Storm, Precious Shepherd’s Melaina, placed 2nd out of 10 black juvi females in the Composite Class at the 2009 AOBA Nationals, and 2nd at the Empire Alpaca Extravaganza!
Zorro's fineness, combined with his density and brightness is what we are striving for in our breeding programs.
